Freshwater

We have experience in wide variety of river restoration initiatives, including in-stream flow, natural channel design, and riparian restoration. Bluestem also brings a whole-system perspective to projects with knowledge that does not stop at the river’s edge. Click below to learn more about our work with freshwater ecosystems.

Windy Gap Connectivity

As a member of Northern Water, Keith led the restoration side of the Windy Gap Connectivity project that is reconnecting a mile-long stretch of the Colorado River in Grand County, Colorado to provide for habitat, fish passage, and sediment transport. With a passion for freshwater restoration and the Colorado River, he pushed the project toward a more complete restoration by sourcing locally adapted (ecotypic) riparian plant materials, and working for a design that incorporated floodplain habitats and planned channel mobility.
