Who I Am

Hi, I’m Keith. I have spent fifteen years working with and for local and state agencies, NGOs, and private landowners implementing effective conservation solutions. With deep experience across forests, freshwater, and grasslands, and with extensive technical skills in spatial (GIS) and data analysis, I am ready to take on your conservation project from inception to completion.

People are the most important part of getting good projects to ground. I pride myself in my history of working proactively with agencies, landowners, and wildly diverse stakeholder groups to create meaningful projects that cross ownership boundaries, jurisdictional boundaries, and political divides.

As a native of Taos, New Mexico and committed citizen of the American West, I am deeply vested in leveraging the best tools and techniques to conserve and restore western lands.

What We Offer

Management Planning

A great management plan is the foundation of great natural resource management. We will bring stakeholders together, prioritize limited resources, and develop a strategy for fundraising so that you can get your projects to ground.

Grant Writing

With a history of writing successful grants and experience serving on grant review committees, we can tell the story of your project in a compelling and clear manner that will help funders get excited to join you in your conservation mission.

Spatial Analysis (GIS)

More than just maps, careful spatial analysis makes clear how biotic and abiotic factors, operational constraints, and your neighbor’s projects can be leveraged to guide wise land management.

Project Management

Project management is the foundation of Bluestem Conservation Management. From retaining contractors to keeping stakeholders in the loop, pre-implementation regulatory compliance to post-project monitoring, we provide a turnkey solution to making your ideas happen.

Project Development

We have developed countless conservation projects that bring together stakeholders, leverage precious financial resources, and consider influences beyond the fence line to create ecosystem enhancements that will endure for generations. Let us join you to make your good ideas happen.

Carbon Markets

Your land is part of the climate solution. Working with our partner RenewWest, we develop carbon credits from forestry and grassland conservation projects that you can sell on the open market or use to offset your organization’s own carbon footprint.

Keith has multi-disciplinary experience with forests, watersheds, community engagement and grant writing and project development. This enables him to be adaptable and flexible to a variety of our project needs. Keith has helped us acquire significant funding for forest health projects while simultaneously setting us up for future projects to be developed.
